In the summer of 2009, I accepted the opportunity to become an administrator as the ESL Head of Department for the Fudan International School. My industrious efforts were rewarded as the HOD for ESL, as the Headmaster and the leadership of the school appointed me as the Dean of the newly established elementary school, in addition to my duties as an HOD and middle school and high school ESL teacher. I accepted this additional responsibility because it enabled me to contribute my extensive experience and training to assist in the development of the elementary school and guide it to becoming certified as an IB PYP school. The Board of Directors appointed me as a member of the Administrative Team in addition to my aforementioned duties. I was currently under contract at FDIS until June of 2012.
As the Dean of the Elementary School, I led the effort to secure WASC accreditation in 2012. Due to age discrimination practiced and sanctioned by the Chinese government in Shanghai, I was not permitted to continue my duties as Dean of the Elementary School because of my 65th birthday.
I secured a Z Visa to work and live in Shanghai, China in 2013, which was for two years until May of 2015. I taught Phonics, and English Language Arts at the Shanghai ELS: American Education Center on 201 Anfu Road in Shanghai for a 6 month period. I took the ELS training modules and I received good excellent evaluations by students and directors at this site.
